Zuckerberg: NFTs will be added to Instagram soon
Mark Zuckerberg, the former CEO of Meta or Facebook, said the development team is working to bring NFTs to Instagram soon. He said he hopes Instagram users will be able to create their unique tokens in the next few months.
According to CoinDesk, Mark Zuckerberg said Tuesday at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas:
We are trying to bring NFTs to Instagram in the near future. However, I still can not say when this will happen.
Casey Newton, the author of The Verge’s Platformer newsletter, says Zuckerberg said he “hopes” that Instagram users will be able to create non-fungible tokens in the coming months.
In January, the Financial Times reported, citing informed sources, that Meta was working on plans for Facebook and Instagram users to display NFTs in their profiles.
It is worth mentioning that Meta has not yet responded to the request of the festival participants for more information about the NFT section of Instagram.
In October, Facebook changed its name to Meta to show its focus on Metaverse and virtual reality. The company had previously said in a meeting that its Metaverse also supports NFTs.
